Sanjana and Jem

07/09/2026by Martin

I was invited to Sanjana and Jem’s wedding by Aditya, the bride’s brother, who wanted to surprise the couple with an indelible memento of the day: a painting that would capture the intensity of their magnificent Hindu wedding, set against the timeless backdrop of the Tuscan hills.

Aditya asked me to immortalize a specific moment of the ceremony: the *pheras*—the seven circuits around the sacred fire—performed by the couple as they recited their vows and blessings. Furthermore, it was crucial to him that the painting symbolize the love and deep connection shared by the couple—she of Indian heritage and he of English, united by a mutual interest in science and astronomy.
